Governor  Oborevwori Unveils Red Cross  Int’l Youth Camp In Agbor, Delta State

Delta State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially opened the 18th edition of the Nigerian Red Cross Society’s International Youth Camp, which is being held at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Training School in Agbor, Delta State.

The Governor, who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Harry Trakiriowei, formally opened the gathering of young Red Crossers, remarking that the Delta State Government has always thrown its support behind the youth.
“Here in Delta State, we recognise the critical role that education plays in shaping the youth to make a lasting impact on the world.”

This is why, as soon as I became Governor of Delta State, I directed state-owned universities and other tertiary institutions to reduce the fees they charge students.”
The Executive Governor went on to outline at least four additional initiatives aimed at providing opportunities for young people in both the formal and informal sectors.
In his message, the Commandant of the FRSC Training School Agbor, Oludare Ogunjobi, noted that
The Red Cross and the Federal Road Safety Corps had a long and successful partnership.

The National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, praised the
Youth participants were recognised for their dedication and the critical role they play in shaping Nigeria’s future humanitarian efforts.

He thanked Mr. Sidney Osawaru, the National Youth Adviser, for his tireless efforts to organise the camp to international standards.

The President also thanked NRCS branches throughout Nigeria, with participants coming from far-flung states such as Zamfara, Borno, Rivers, Lagos, and Kano.
Prince Adeaga also thanked the Federal Road Safety Corps for hosting the camp.
Welcomed delegates from the Seychelles, Mozambique, Uganda, and Kenyan Red Cross Societies,
Encourage them to share their experiences with Nigerian hospitality once they return home.

Prince Adeaga highlighted the significance of the event, stating that the youth are not just attendees but are key members of a global humanitarian movement.

He described the NRCS’s commitment to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Unified Plan 2024.

The focus is on four pillars: empowerment, collaboration, sustainability, and inclusivity.

He urged the youth to take an active role in their communities and make their efforts sustainable and inclusive.
