#EdoVotes2024: Applause As Ighodalo Proclaims Prosperity For All Mantra In US
Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State’s September 21 election, received rousing applause on Monday from the Edo Diaspora Community in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
The first of three Town Hall Meetings across the United States took place at Marietta Hall on Holly Springs Road, which was fully packed. The final two are billed to be held in Houston, Texas, and New York.
Ighodalo, who arrived at the venue to a rousing reception with his wife, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, and running mate, Osarodion Ogie Esq, among others, explained in detail his vision for Edo State as encapsulated in the “Pathway to Prosperity for All” manifesto, to the approval of the large audience of over four hundred.
Ighodalo began by emphasising the importance of the Edo Diaspora Community in his state plan and agenda. He challenged them to prepare for a new era in which their skills and knowledge would be needed back home.
He assured them that he plans to ensure that they contribute meaningfully to the state’s development by providing an enabling environment in which they can do so without stress.
Ighodalo emphasised the importance of security while laying out his state agenda. He emphasised that without security, all other plans may not be possible. He assured that the existing State Security Trust Fund would be strengthened and improved.
He hinted at the use of technology, encouraging the return to proper grooming in the home, and moral suasion through recognised societal channels to combat youth misbehaviour. He also stated that anyone who intentionally engages in any criminal activity will face sanctions to deter others.
Speaking about the well-being of citizens as another pillar of his manifesto, Ighodalo stated that everything would be done to ensure the welfare of the people by providing amenities that make life and living worthwhile.
In terms of economic plans, Ighodalo stated that he would establish economic development agencies in each of the three senatorial zones to maximise their comparative advantages. He revealed his plans for tourism and creative economies to the audience’s admiration.
During the question-and-answer session, deputy governorship candidate Ogie joined him as attendees sought answers to their burning questions and heartfelt desires for their beloved state.
As the meeting concluded, they both gave satisfactory answers to their questions. The US Diaspora Engagement train arrives in Houston, Texas on Wednesday.
