Let’s Offer Our Free Services To Onyeka Onwenu, Says Bisi Olatilo
Dr. Bisi Olatilo, a veteran broadcaster, believes that no one should charge for any services rendered at the funeral of the iconic broadcaster, actress, and Onyeka Onwenu. “They should not charge for funeral services as a lasting tribute to our long-term friend and colleague. “Those who cannot provide free services should give up,” he said. His concerns stem from his observations about the funeral arrangements.
“I have carefully planned to give Onyeka Onwenu, OFR, the best possible burial because she deserves it. Dr. Olatilo, Chairman of Bisi Olatilo TV, stated, “I will make these observations that I want us to investigate sincerely, without undue sentiment or bias.”
“It would be an absolute disservice and most unfair to Onyeka Onwenu, who provided her highly professional services to the entertainment fraternity at no cost, to charge a kobo for the production of a fitting documentary in her honour.
“There are many broadcasters among us who should be delighted to do this as a fitting farewell to Onyeka Onwenu.”
“I repeat, NO KOBO should be spent on producing a documentary about Onyeka Onwenu.
“All those who will serve as Masters of Ceremonies at all the events planned should do so for free to honour Onyeka Onwenu, who was our esteemed professional colleague,” Dr. Olatilo, an ace MC, stated.
He also suggested that “in the same way, all radio, television, and newspaper organisations should cover all of the pre- and post-free events as a lasting tribute to Onyeka Onwenu.” “We should be loyal to our friends until eternity.”
Onyeka passed away on July 30, 2024, after performing at a birthday party in Lagos.
