Tinubu Does Not Take Peace In Niger Delta For Granted, Says Otuaro.
- Meinbutus Elders Council Pass Vote Of Confidence In PAP Boss
Dr Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), has revealed that President Bola Tinubu appreciates the current peace and stability in the Niger Delta.
On Tuesday, Otuaro paid separate consultative visits to the palaces of the Chief Priest of Mein-Diringbia Deity (Agadagba III) of Mein Kingdom, HRM King Godday Smith; the Meinbutus Elders Council; and the Western Zone leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Warri, Delta State.
During the consultative visits to stakeholders, the Meinbutus Elders Council unanimously gave Otuaro their vote of confidence.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Assistant on Media to the PAP Administrator, Mr Igoniko Oduma, the confidence-vote motion was moved by Deme Yinkore, a former speaker of the IYC parliament, and seconded by Wayas Ebiaremene.
Otuaro stated that Tinubu did not take the region’s and people’s current peace, security, and development for granted.
In addition, he stated that the president and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, have strong faith in the PAP and its goals for the Niger Delta.
The PAP leader stated that Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda encapsulates the aspirations of the Niger Delta people, particularly given that he is a southern president.
Otuaro reiterated his commitment to passionately serving the people and running the program with transparency, while also ensuring its expansion for greater inclusivity, particularly among women, elders, and communities.
While calling for greater unity among the people, he stated that the PAP, under his leadership, was committed to engaging more youths through formal education, vocational training, empowerment, and mentoring, among other initiatives.
While calling for greater unity among the people, he stated that the PAP, under his leadership, was committed to engaging more youths through formal education, vocational training, empowerment, and mentoring, among other initiatives. He does not take the peace in the Niger Delta for granted.
“Mr President adores the Niger Delta people and the Ijaw people. And as long as we organise as Ijaw people, the President will remain dedicated to the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta cause. He is a southern president who will always need our support, but we must also organise ourselves, become more united, and support Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I am passionate about this job. I am committed to providing better and higher-quality service to our employees because I hold this position in trust for them. I will provide full service, and it is time to do so.
“Whenever I need advice, I will call and visit. I will always consult. An office like this necessitates planning and listening, and by God’s grace, I will continue to be an attentive listener.”
He emphasised that the “Meinbutus are playing a critical role in this issue of peace that we are talking about in the Niger Delta,” and that the peace reflects their activities because they are organised as a pioneer agitator-group in the struggle.
Otuaro pledged to always consult stakeholders and thanked the Mein-Diringbia Deity chief priest, the Meinbutus Elders Council, and the IYC for their support, urging them to continue working to keep the region peaceful and stable.
In his address, read by Dr Ayakeme Tonkiri, the Chief Priest stated that based on Otuaro’s track record, the people of Mein Kingdom are confident that the PAP under their son’s leadership will achieve great success.
“With the various reforms made so far in repositioning the Presidential Amnesty Programme since your assumption of office, we are indeed proud to identify with your laudable achievements that have changed the narratives of the Programme in recent times,” he stated.
Separately, Binebai Princewill, the IYC’s national spokesperson, and Nicholas Igarama, the Western zone chairman, praised the PAP boss for his humility and commitment to serving the people.
They expressed the apex Ijaw youth organization’s unwavering support for Otuaro and warned those distracting him to stop to avoid their wrath, saying, “We do not want people to take advantage of his humility.”
