PDP Governors Not In Position To Advise Tinubu On Governance Or Rate His Performance, Says TMSG

The Tinubu Media Group (TMSG) exposed the PDP governors’ hypocrisy, comparing them to chichidodos, a mythical bird that despises excreta but feeds on worms found in faeces.

The group made the remarks on Sunday in Abuja, following the governors’ criticisms of the Tinubu administration.

In a twist of irony, the PDP governors who had feasted on the Tinubu administration’s massive allocations have now accused the same government of non-performance.

The TMSG, in a statement signed by Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo, stated that the PDP governors’ statement was based on insincerity and arrogant sanctimoniousness. The group emphasised that non-performing governors, such as those from the PDP, are a burden on the country.

“The governors elected on the PDP platform are in no position to advise President Bola Tinubu on governance or evaluate his performance in office because none of them have done anything worthwhile with the increased revenue they have received since Tinubu took office in the last year.

“But we find it shameful that state governors, despite a quantum leap in public funds allocated to them in more than a year, are pointing fingers at the President.”

“We see this as hypocrisy, but we also recognise that they must engage in opposition politics, which in Nigeria means abusing people or spreading false information.

“Like President Tinubu, we acknowledge that the twin policies of fuel subsidy removal and unification of multiple exchange rates, as well as the high cost of living globally, have exacerbated the country’s high cost of living; however, they have also resulted in improved allocations from the federation account to all tiers of government, which these governors enjoy.

” The federal government has also been providing assistance to state governments, regardless of party affiliation, but there are no signs of massive infrastructure projects in many of the states that are commensurate with the funds that governors have been receiving.

“Let us not forget that some of these governors preside over oil-producing states, which, coincidentally, have the highest number of people living in multidimensional poverty despite receiving massive resource allocations for years.

“Yet these governors chose to “express dismay at the management of the economy” rather than sit down and engage in a genuine peer review mechanism to improve performance in their respective states.

TMSG also wondered what the PDP governors meant when they mentioned the former ruling party’s glory days.

“We found it laughable that members of a party that presided over multiple oil boom periods with little to show for it could engage in a revisionist ploy to dupe gullible Nigerians.

“This is a political party that plunders Nigeria’s hard-earned resources and squanders its national patrimony for 16 years while also privatising hundreds of state-owned companies and investments in an opaque process.

“It is easy for PDP governors to play the populist card by raising the price of food items and the pump price of fuel, but Nigerians have not forgotten the massive diversion of oil revenue into private foreign bank accounts, as well as

The deliberate neglect of public infrastructure in the face of enormous revenue gains.

TMSG cited what Information Minister Mohammed Idris told PDP governors in February this year as a list of President Bola Tinubu’s numerous achievements.

‘The President and his administration recognise the unfinished business of revamping our national economy, which was started by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration,’ the group quoted the minister as saying.

The minister stated that the government has made significant progress in programmes focusing on large-scale infrastructure, social welfare, and prioritising the equipping and welfare of military and security agencies. So is the reclaiming of Nigeria’s strategic position in the comity of nations.

He also stated that Boko Haram and its affiliates, which were on the rise in 2014/2015, have since been decimated, and similar bold gains are now being made by bandits and other criminals.

“If a 16-year period marked by those harsh realities were the good old days that the PDP governors were referring to, then our message to them is, Never again,” the pro-Tinubu group concluded.
