Monarch Commends Otuaro For Bold Steps To Re-position PAP, Urges Detractors To Stop Distraction
HRM King Ateke Tom, the King of Okochiri Kingdom in Rivers State’s Okirika Local Government Area, has praised Dr Dennis Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), for his administration’s accomplishments since assuming office.
He observed that Otuaro had quietly implemented well-thought-out reforms to reposition the PAP for better and more efficient service delivery.
The first-class monarch, who stated this when the PAP boss paid him a visit at his Okochiri palace over the weekend, emphasised that Otuaro has demonstrated the ability to direct the program’s affairs.
The monarch went on to say that Otuaro’s dedication and passion for providing efficient service to the people of the Niger Delta were undeniable.
On Sunday, the Special Assistant on Media to the PAP Administrator, Mr Igoniko Oduma, issued a statement on these issues.
King Tom warned those he described as Otuaro’s detractors to stop distracting him and let him focus on his work.
According to him, some characters’ ill-advised attempts to bring down Otuaro were unacceptable and not in the best interests of the region, delegates, or PAP beneficiaries.
He described Otuaro as a serious-minded Niger Deltan and a product of the struggle who believes in extensive consultation and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the program’s success.
The former frontline freedom fighter thanked President Bola Tinubu for appointing Otuaro, stating that the president made the correct decision.
He said, “Mr (PAP) Administrator, I want to commend you for everything you are doing to improve the programme for our people and region. Since your appointment, I have closely monitored your progress and achievements.
“You are doing well, which is why I would like to advise those who are unhappy with your appointment to stop distracting you. Must we constantly bring down our people? I urge them to support you instead of doing the unpleasant things they are doing.
“We know you as a person who enjoys consulting and collaborating with stakeholders. It is not surprising because, as someone who has been through adversity, you have never let us down, and we know you won’t.
“The President made the best choice in appointing you as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme because you are a very serious person, and we are confident in your ability to improve the programme in terms of service delivery to our people.”
Otuaro responded by describing Okochiri as an ancient kingdom in Ijaw land, and explaining that his visit to the traditional ruler was part of his ongoing consultations and engagements with key Niger Delta stakeholders.
The PAP boss remarked that King Tom was one of the major Niger Delta activists who remained consistent in his advocacy for a higher standard of living for the region.
He thanked King Tom for his fatherly advice and words of encouragement, and stated that he and his team were prepared to continue providing quality service in accordance with the President’s renewed hope agenda.
