Abuja, Nigeria – The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) have forged a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering peace and security in the Niger Delta region.
The collaboration, announced during a courtesy visit by PAP Administrator Dr Dennis Otuaro to the NCTC headquarters in Abuja, underscores the commitment of both entities to fostering a more stable and prosperous environment in the region.
Dr Otuaro, in a statement released by his media aide Mr Igoniko Oduma, highlighted the importance of the partnership in deepening PAP’s ongoing peacebuilding efforts.
“We are delighted to collaborate with the NCTC, which is vital to ensuring the safety of the Niger Delta and the entire nation,” he stated.
The partnership is expected to leverage the NCTC’s expertise in counterterrorism and intelligence gathering to enhance PAP’s efforts in addressing the root causes of unrest and promoting sustainable peace in the region.
Dr Otuaro emphasized that a peaceful Niger Delta is crucial for boosting Nigeria’s oil production and strengthening the national economy, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of ‘Renewed Hope’.
“A secure and stable Niger Delta will benefit the entire country, and we are committed to playing our part in realizing this goal,” he asserted.
Major General Adamu Laka, National Coordinator of the NCTC, welcomed the partnership, highlighting the centre’s dedication to national peace and security.
“We are committed to working closely with PAP to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Niger Delta,” he stated.
The collaboration marks a significant step towards addressing the complex security challenges facing the region.
By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, PAP and NCTC aim to create a more secure and prosperous future for the Niger Delta and the nation as a whole.
