Anambra Votes 2025: APGA Expands Structures In Over 12,000 Kindreds
As political manoeuvring intensifies ahead of Anambra State’s 2025 governorship election, the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) says it will not stop at nothing to return governance to the grassroots.
According to the Daily Independent, the party’s state chairman, High Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, stated that the party’s mission is to ensure that every political ward in the state has established its kindred structures by December of this year, citing the fact that there are over 12,000 kindreds.
Obi-Okoye stated that the Kindreds (Umunna structures) constitution would give the All Progressives Grand Alliance an advantage in the upcoming election next year.
Obi-Okoye, speaking on the first anniversary of the party’s new state leadership, stated that they have been able to maintain stability in the party without experiencing any crises in the last year.
He stated that they needed to take the party beyond the ward level, recalling that when APGA was registered and formed in 2002, it was founded as a party that drew its strength from ordinary people at the grassroots.
He stated that his administration has returned the APGA to its fundamental structure, which is based on traditional village leadership, and that the party’s grassroots penetration has been aided by Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s good governance.
The APGA state chairman emphasised that the goal of establishing Solution Kindred Structures was to ensure that all government benefits, palliatives, economic empowerment, and other largesse reached the common man at the grassroots without being denied or shortchanged along the value chain.
He revealed that the government of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is establishing what he refers to as Onye Aghana Nwanneya Cooperative. According to him, the cooperative is for the poor, not the rich and influential, and it allows them to form economic groups to receive government grants and loans to start their businesses.
According to him, every polling unit in the community is based on the kindred structure, so losing a polling unit means losing one’s kindred in the election.
He stated that the Solution Kindred Initiative would continue because he believes the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is a grassroots movement.
