Finidi George, Embattled Super Eagles’ Coach Resigns
Nigerian international Finidi George has resigned from his position as the Super Eagles’ head coach.
According to reports, Finidi made the decision on Saturday, days after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced plans to bring in a foreign technical adviser.
Former Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye confirmed his departure via his X account.
Ibitoye wrote, “News just in: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position.
Finidi was only appointed on April 29, 2024, to succeed Jose Peseiro, whose contract expired in February.
During his brief tenure, the former Enyimba manager oversaw a 1-1 draw with South Africa and a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Finidi has been widely criticised for his capability, competence, and man management abilities as a result of these two matches.
