Otti Visits Family Of Killed Soldier, Cpl Ikpeama, Consoles Mother, Wife
Dr. Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, paid a visit to the family of Cpl Lucky Ikechukwu Ikpeama, one of the soldiers killed by unidentified gunmen at Obikabia Junction in Obingwa Local Government Area on Sunday.
According to Kazie Uko, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the late Cpl Ikpeama was from the same village, Nvosi, in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, as Governor Otti.
The deceased, one of five soldiers ambushed and killed by gunmen on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at his duty post, left behind a young wife and a four-month-old baby, as well as an aged mother.
Governor Otti expressed his condolences to the family and reiterated his promise that the State Government will assume responsibility for training the children of the slain soldiers on a scholarship up to the university level.
The Governor was greeted by the deceased soldier’s uncle, who informed him that the family had scheduled the soldier’s burial for Thursday, June 13, 2024, after applying for and receiving approval from army authorities to bury the corpse.
