I’ll Soon Be World Champion, Raphael Igbokwe Gushes
Raphael Igbokwe, aka “Trouble”, a Nigerian Diaspora Boxer has asked Nigerians to be on the lookout for him as he would soon be World Champions.
Igbokwe who was at the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) on Wednesday to pay a courtesy visit to the Commission’s Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, expressed his excitement to be backed home after 12 years in the United States, saying that being a Nigerian makes him happy.
He said: “This is the best time I have had in my life, I am super excited to be back home in Nigeria. I love Nigeria.”
The boxer who was very elated described Nigeria as his home adding that coming home is the best decision he has made.
He noted that he has more fans at home in Nigeria than in America where he holds a belt as a middleweight champion in boxing in Houston, Texas.
The NiDCOM Boss who was very happy to receive the boxer appreciated him for making Nigeria proud. “You make me proud to be a Nigerian”, she added.
Dabiri-Erewa urged Igbokwe to continue to be a role model to Nigerians while noting that the country is proud of him.
“We want to work with you to harness the many talents out there and mentor these youths. There is so much we will be doing together.”
Dabiri-Erewa encouraged him to continue to be a good ambassador of the country, stating that the Commission has established a Diaspora Sports Mentorship Programme to facilitate Diaspora skills transfer in Sports.
Raphael Igbokwe is credited with 18 wins, 11 of which were by knockouts and 3 losses in 21 fights.
