Edo Guber Race: Ighodalo Emerges PDP Governorship Candidate

A board room guru, Asue Ighodalo has been declared victorious in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Edo State Primary Election, securing the party’s nomination for the September 2024 Governorship Race

Mr. Asue Ighodalo, a prominent lawyer and financial expert, emerged victorious in the highly anticipated PDP Edo Primary Election on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Backed by Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ighodalo clinched the party’s nomination to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the state, scheduled for September 2024.

In a landslide victory, Ighodalo garnered a remarkable 577 votes, leaving his opponents without any significant support as they failed to score a single vote.

Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, who opted for a parallel congress he emerged victorious in, could only manage to secure one vote.

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, acting as the Chief Returning Officer for the primary election under the observation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), formally declared Ighodalo as the winner of the exercise and the official candidate of the PDP for the upcoming September ballot.
