As part of strategies to alleviate Nigerlites’ sufferings as a result of harsh economic realities, over 300 political aides serving as coordinators in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have unanimously resolved to support and contribute to the Governor Mohammed Umar Bago-led administration’s developmental initiatives.

The Coordinators further stated that no member of the Forum is experiencing difficulties with placements or getting pay and other entitlements because they were all caught, issued appointment letters, and have begun collecting salaries following their engagement.

Dr. Umar Mohammed Dya-Dya, Chairman of the Niger State Coordinators Forum, said this in an interview shortly after the group’s inaugural meeting, which was held at the conference hall of the Special Adviser (Political)’s office in Minna, the state capital.

To express their gratitude for the appointment, Mohammed, who does not know how many more were hired after their names were shortlisted, stated that they have planned areas of intervention such as health, education, and direct humanitarian assistance.

According to the Chairman of the Coordinators Forum, their determination to make the necessary sacrifices stems from their understanding that all hands must be on deck to achieve the Governor Bago-led administration’s new Niger goal.

Mohammed, on the other hand, stated unequivocally that, even though their status is the first of its kind in the state’s history; Coordinators are not in competition with Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Special Adviser/Special Assistants, or even Civil Servants, but rather as partners deployed across the 25 Local Government Areas to ensure that Governor Bago’s developmental plans succeed.

“The Governor in his wisdom decided to engage us as Coordinators to MDAs and deployed across the 25 Local Government Areas, we are not in rivalry with other appointees or civil servants, but we are partners in progress working tirelessly to contribute our quota to the growth and development of Niger state”.

The Coordinators were distributed among MDAs to monitor and provide the necessary expertise in a strategic role towards the implementation of the new Niger agenda, working as a team for the collective good of all Nigerlites.

Discussions are currently underway with the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman Gawu, to organise a retreat for top civil servants and the over 300 Coordinators spread across rural and urban communities to enable them to have a clear mission and vision for their respective roles in improving Niger State.
