AFCON Final: Ivory Coast, Nigeria Prepare For The Epic Clash
The tournament has been a thrilling spectacle, filled with unexpected twists and turns, last-minute goal dramas, VAR interventions, and incredible storylines. This year’s edition is sure to be remembered as one of the greatest tournaments of all time, and the final promises to be an exciting match-up.
What a nail-biting match it was! Nigeria has successfully made its way to the semi-finals after defeating South Africa in a thrilling penalty shoot-out. It was a neck-to-neck competition, with both teams tied at 1-1 even after extra time. But Nigeria’s determination and skill came through in the end, and they emerged victorious. What a game!
The Ivoriens have had a much more turbulent journey. They fired their head coach during the group stages as they were close to being eliminated. However, they managed to progress to the knockout stages, where they defeated defending champions Senegal and subsequently overcame DR Congo in the semi-finals.
Both nations met in the group stages with Nigeria claiming a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast courtesy of a penalty from Captain William Troost-Ekong.
