Nigeria Beat Tanzania 2-0 In U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers
Nigeria’s U23 football team, the Olympics Eagles defeated the Young Taifa Stars of Tanzania 2-0 in the second leg of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers at the Lekan Salami Stadium Ibadan on Saturday.
The first half of the game was a keenly contested one as it ended goallessly.
But the Nigerian side took over the game from the start of the second half, as Oguniyi Omojesu put Nigeria in front with a sublime free-kick.
While Success Makanjuola put the icing on the cake as he scored from the spot to make it 2-0 after Nigeria was awarded a spot kick.
The Olympics Eagles have now progressed to the next round of the qualifiers with a 3-1 aggregate win over the Tanzanians.
Morocco will host the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which will also serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in France.
