Katsina Set To Become A Leading ICT Hub In Nigeria – Tune, HOS

Sequel to the take over of the PMB ICT Innovation Centre by the Katsina State, Institute of Technology and Management (KSTIM), the State is set to become a leading ICT innovation hub in Nigeria.

Alhaji Usman Idris Tune, the state Head of Civil Service (HOS), made this assertion when he paid a working visit to the newly established ICT Innovation Centre in Katsina at the weekend.

The Head of Service who expressed satisfaction with the facilities put in place by the Institute for ICT training, research and entrepreneurial development, said he is confident with the capacity of the institute to propel ICT, entrepreneurship skills and Technological Innovations in the state.

“With the establishment of the centre, the Institute has all that is needed to become a leading Innovation hub in the country”.

He however called on the beneficiaries of the institution to make better use of what they would be taught for the development of themselves and the larger society.

Dr Babangida Abubakar Alibaba, the Rector of the institute, earlier in a welcome address disclosed that the centre was built by NITDA for the state government and decided to hand it over to the institute for ICT training, technological innovations and entrepreneurial development in the state.

The rector assured of the commitment of the institute to exploring more areas of collaboration with various agencies at the federal and state levels for the ICT-related training to boost the digital literacy of their personnel and enhance the revenue base of the institute.

He, therefore, solicited more collaboration with the office of the Head of Civil Service for ICT training of all cadres of civil servants in the State.

Malam Ma’a Balarabe, the registrar of the institute, also speaking expressed appreciation to the Head of Service for attaching priority to the development of the institute and promoting the digital skills of civil servants in the state.
