Omicron: NSCDC Trains Disaster Management Officers On Precautionary Measures

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Crisis Management Unit has called on its officers and men to be cautious while dealing with the public in other not to contact Omicron Variant of Covid-19.
NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi Stated this while flagging off a 2 day sensitization program with the theme “Response Train The Trainee and Community Sensitization In Ibadan.
The training which was flagged off on Monday is expected to come to an end on Tuesday and it had in attendance participants from different formations across the disaster units from the south west.
Audi who was represented by the Zonal Commandant of Corps Shem Obafie, said many did not bothered about vaccination, they thought the pandemic is no longer around, they thought that the government are just imposing all the measures on them, it is for their own safety.
“So we are trying to sensitize the members of the public, to educate them on the need to continue wearing their face mask, observing social distancing, regular hand washing and the usage of hand sanitizers and also to let them know that it is a necessity for them to get informed about the Omicron Variant.
“The doctors treating people should also be careful not to get infected, our officers are already used to all the preventive measures like usage of face mask, hand sanitizers and the likes, so they will be going out to help our people in educating them on the need for them to be very cautious about the pandemic.
NSCDC Commandant in Oyo State, Mr. Micheal Adaralewa said the seminar became imperative for preventive methods against Covid -19, especially officers dealing with the public.
Mr. Adaralewa therefore called on the participants to take the seminar serious and convey the message to their various formations.
“We have provided enough sanitizers, face mask, and other preventive measures for our officers that are going to be distributed across to some residents in our various communities.
“Our officers will also be going around to sensitize members of the public on the need for them to be using those sanitizers and face mask on regular basis.
“I urge the members of the public to continue with the usage of those preventive measures to curb the menace of this pandemic, I can tell you that this pandemic is very much around, so our people should be very careful. Adaralewa said.
