Police Parade Killer Of Army Captain, Eight Kidnappers In Rivers
- Rivers State Police Command weekend paraded killers of a retired army captain, Geoffrey Zwallamark, whose decomposing corpse was exhumed by operatives in November, 2021
- The police said the suspect, Julius Amadi, 37, also known as Juju, who was arrested along with two other criminals while attempting to sell an SUV belonging to another victim, Williams Etuk, who they kidnapped in September 2021.
Spokesman of the command, Nnamdi Omoni disclosed this while parading a total of nine suspects before newsmen in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
Omoni disclosed that Julius and his cohorts were arrested at Ukwa in Akwa Ibom state, where the stolen vehicle and weapons were also ecovered from them.
“In a bid to solve two separate kidnap cases, men of the Anti-Kidnapping unit, working on credible information arrested the trio of Gift Frank ‘f’, Julius Amadi ‘m’ 32 years.
“They were arrested in connection with the kidnap of one Williams Etuk on 11/9/2021 along Igbo-Etche road by four armed men.
” One of the suspects, Julius Amadi, a.k.a. Juju, confessed to be a member of the syndicate that kidnapped and killed the late army captain whose decomposing body was recovered at Igbo-Etche road, Rivers State sometime last month”, Omoni said.
He further narrated that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping unit in another operation on October 8, 2021, intercepted and arrest another set of kidnappers at Boki in Cross River state, who kidnapped a 42 year-old man, Michael Oladipo on October 3, 2021 at Igwuruta, Ikwerre LGA of Rivets State.
Omoni noted that another SUV belonging to the victim which they hijacked was recovered, adding that the suspects would be taken to court once investigations were concluded.
“In a related development, Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping unit in a covert operation on 8/10/2021 arrested John Ifeanyi Obinna ‘m’ 23 years and Orji Ndukwu ‘m’ 24 years.
” They confessed to have carried out the kidnap of one Michael Oladipo who was kidnapped on 3/10/2021 at Igwuruta in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers State and the Lexus Jeep belonging to the victim recovered from them
He said that operatives rescued a kidnap victim and also arrested his abductors who lured the 24-year-old victim from Warri, Delta to Port Harcourt with a fake job offer via the internet before seizing him and demanding a ransom of $20 million from his parents.
“The victim was kept in Ubama in Oyigbo LGA, before the police following investigations tracked the kidnappers and rescued the victim. They (the suspects) will be due in court as soon as investigations are over,” he said.
