NDE Begins Advance Business Training For Over 500 Youths In Ogun

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has embarked on a 2-day training of 540 unemployed youths in Ogun State.

The participants of the Advance Business Training (ABT) were selected from the three Senatorial Districts of Ogun State, Ogun East, Ogun West, and Ogun Central.

The NDE Director-General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, while flagging off the training’ in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital said, ‘the federal government as a way of cushioning the effect of Covid-19 pandemic, designed the Expanded Special Public Works (ESPW), which engaged 1000 participants from each area in Nigeria.

The NDE boss, who was represented by the NDE Ogun State Coordinator – Mr. Alao Babatunde Ismail remarked that the global lockdown as a result of the outbreak of coronavirus in 2019 resulted in a downturn in the economy in Nigeria.

The downturn resulted in the loss of jobs and business by many people and this made it impossible for them to live a normal life.

He further reiterated that after the expiration of the ESPW programme, the Federal government designed an exit plan for the participants as a way to discourage them from going back to the unemployment market.

Welcoming the fortunate participants to the orientation programme, Ogun State NDE Coordinator, Mr. Alao Babatunde Ismail said that 180 participants from Ogun East were trained in Itoro Hall Ijebu Ode Local Government, 180 from Ogun West were trained at Oronna Hall in Egbado South Local Government while the remaining 180 from Ogun Central were trained at Abeokuta South Local Government Secretariat Hall, Ake Abeokuta respectively.

Mr. Akinsanya Mobolaji Remi, the head of the Special Public Works department said participants were trained on; business ideas, marketing plan, legal responsibilities and insurance in business, costing of products and services, business risk analysis, feasibility study report, managing your small business, business feature and customer relations.
