Ighalo Returns To Super Eagles
Two years after he announced his exit from international football after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Egypt, Odion Ighalo returns to the Super Eagles team as his name has been included in the list of invited players for the closing Group C games of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 African race against Liberia and Cape Verde.
Ighalo, who scored 16 goals in 35 appearances between 2015 and 2019 for the Super Eagles, has been in superb form for his club Al-Shabab Riyadh of Saudi Arabia, bagging eight goals in nine league games.
Also returning to the team are Leicester City of England’s midfield enforcer Wilfred Ndidi, who missed the last round of games home-and-away against the Central African Republic (CAR), fellow Premiership boy Alex Iwobi and Spain-based forward Samuel Chukwueze.
Coach Gernot Rohr also listed team captain Ahmed Musa, deputy captain William Ekong, defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Leon Balogun, Moses Simon, and others.
