BREAKING: Buhari Writes Reps On Why He Declined To Sign Electoral Bill

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the House of Representatives stating reasons why he declined assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, particularly as it relates to the provision for direct party primaries.

The House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, read the President’s letter on the floor, wherein the President enumerated series of disadvantages of the system which he said include manipulation by incumbent office holders who seek re-elections, as well as political parties’ inability to muster the funds to finance it.
