Fuji Icon K1 De Ultimate Accused Of Assaulting Airport Security, Disrupting Flight
Renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, is under investigation following an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that the musician allegedly poured alcohol on an airline security officer and attempted to block a ValueJet flight from taking off.
According to a statement released by the FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the incident occurred as K1 De Ultimate was scheduled to board the ValueJet flight VK 201 to Lagos.
The statement outlines that the musician allegedly attempted to carry an unidentified liquid exceeding the permitted 100ml limit onto the aircraft.
Despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the Flight Captain regarding aviation security regulations, including Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Security Programme and ICAO Annexe 17, he allegedly refused to comply.
“As boarding continued, an airline security officer asked the passenger to step aside for clarification,” Orah stated. “The passenger allegedly refused and poured the liquid — later confirmed as alcohol — on the officer.”
The situation escalated when the Flight Captain intervened, facing resistance from the musician. Once boarding was completed, the Captain ordered the aircraft door closed.
However, K1 De Ultimate reportedly moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to leave the area, disrupting the flight’s departure.
AVSEC’s crime unit was eventually called in to escort the musician away for investigation. He was later released.
FAAN has strongly condemned the incident, emphasising its commitment to passenger and crew safety.
“FAAN reiterates its firm commitment to the safety and security of all passengers, crew, and airport personnel,” Orah stated.
“We will not condone actions that compromise operations or violate aviation safety rules, regardless of who is involved.”
The statement further confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway and that “all responsible individuals will be held accountable according to the law.”
The incident has sparked widespread discussion online, with many calling for a full and transparent investigation into the allegations against the popular musician.
The outcome of the investigation and potential consequences for K1 De Ultimate remain to be seen.
