Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has insisted that his team will quickly forget the disappointment of a late 2-2 draw with Everton in their final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

The Toffees earned a point thanks to James Tarkowski’s stoppage-time equaliser, which cancelled out goals from Alexis MacAllister and Mohamed Salah, who had overturned Beto’s early lead.

Despite the disappointing result, Liverpool leads the Premier League by seven points with the same number of games played as second-placed Arsenal.

Van Dijk, speaking with TNT Sports, emphasised the importance of moving forward and focussing on the next challenge.

“The feeling right now is clearly disappointment,” he admitted. “But starting tomorrow, we will focus on Wolves and try to get three points.”

The Dutchman topped the fixture list, with five Premier League games in 15 days, including crucial matches against Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Newcastle United. He urged his teammates and fans to remain focused.

“We have a lot of games left until the international break, so there is no point dwelling on this result,” Van Dijk said.

“We wanted to win, we could have won, and perhaps we should have won, but it is what it is; we accept it and move on.”

Van Dijk praised the team’s efforts, which have propelled them to a league-leading position. “We have put ourselves in a very good position, and that is due to hard work, quality, and consistency,” he explained. “I encourage everyone to just look at themselves and try to win every game ahead of them, without worrying about what others are doing.”

He ended with a message of confidence and determination: “Just focus on ourselves, try to be our best versions, and get three points in each and every game ahead of us.”

It will be a very intense final part of the season, but let us enjoy it. We have put ourselves in a good position, so let us get out there and keep going.
