New DSS DG, Ajayi Assumes Office
Mr Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the newly appointed Director General (DG) of the Department of State Services (DSS), assumed office August 28, 2024.
Dr. Peter Afunanya, Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, DSS Headquarters, Abuja, said in a statement on Thursday that the DG was warmly received by the immediate past DGSS, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who briefed him on relevant issues.
“Both of them recalled previous collaborations and reflected on their mutual respect and admiration. They later addressed the Management and Staff of the Service.
“While the outgoing DG urged all to work with the new one to ensure his success in the task ahead, Mr Ajayi emphasised staff unity of purpose and urged them to remain disciplined and professional in carrying out their duties.
“Mr Ajayi assured that he would work with relevant stakeholders with utmost commitment and a strong sense of responsibility to overcome the challenges confronting Nigeria’s economic, political, and security environments.
“The goal, according to him, is to achieve the peace and stability required for development.
“The former DG handed over the Service flag and other office insignias to the new one, which was the highlight of the occasion. Mr Ajayi then took a tour of the National Headquarters, visiting some sections and encouraging staff to remain vigilant, resourceful, dedicated, and loyal to the Service, the constituted authorities, and Nigeria as a whole.
“Instructively, the DGSS pledged to refocus the service towards covertness and the possibility of studied silence on certain issues.”
