Commit To Solving Nigeria’s Problem, Peter Obi Admonishes Tinubu
Mr Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has stated that all Nigerians are aware of the nation’s problems.
Obi said it was disheartening to hear those in charge, who were hired to solve problems, say that Nigerians are not the only ones suffering from poverty and hunger.
Instead, he proposed that a true leader offers direction, guidance, solutions, and reassurance during times of crisis.
In a post on his X handle on Friday, the former Anambra State governor suggested that the country need a comprehensive plan of action to address its unique challenges.
Obi urged leaders to provide tangible solutions rather than simply reminding others that they face similar challenges.
According to him, the country requires a comprehensive approach to addressing specific challenges, rather than generalisations that dismiss Nigerians’ perspectives.
He wrote, “All Nigerians are aware of the problems that the country is facing.
“We are the world’s poverty capital, among the most insecure people on the planet, among the hungry, with poor education quality and the highest number of out-of-school children, high infant mortality, corruption, unemployment, the widest income gap between the poor and the rich, a high corruption perception index, infrastructure and healthcare challenges, and more.
“It is disheartening to hear those in charge, who were hired to address our issues, say things like ‘we are not the only ones struggling with poverty and hunger.’
“Rather than simply acknowledging that other countries face similar challenges, we need to hear a comprehensive plan of action to address our specific struggles.
“We need concrete solutions and a clear vision to address these issues, not comparisons that minimise our situation.
“I urge leaders to provide tangible solutions rather than simply reminding others that they face similar challenges.
“We need a comprehensive approach to addressing our specific challenges, not broad generalisations that dismiss our experiences.” A true leader provides direction, guidance, solutions, and reassurance during a crisis.
“This is the hallmark of visionary leadership, as well as a characteristic of nations that are progressing and developing. They do not simply state the obvious, but rather provide a road map for overcoming obstacles.
“Just as a pilot does not simply announce turbulence, they assure passengers that they will do everything possible to ensure a safe journey.
“Only then can we begin to believe that our country is in capable hands, working for a better future for all Nigerians.”
