Fintech Giant Moniepoint Champions Youth Voices In Delta State Oratory Competition
Moniepoint Inc., a leading financial technology firm, has partnered with the Mega Impact Foundation to empower Delta State’s young minds through the 5th annual NextGen Connect Interschool Oratory Competition.
The event, held in honour of the International Day of the Boy Child, saw Secondary School students from across the state address the critical theme of “The Role of Financial Inclusion and Technology in Shaping a Brighter Future for Young People in Africa.”
Moniepoint, known for its mission of advancing financial inclusion through innovative digital solutions, sponsored the competition, which brought together talented young orators to share their perspectives on the continent’s most pressing issues.
The competition culminated in a showcase of exceptional talent, with Otovo Praise of Crystalloid International School emerging victorious.
His exceptional performance earned him a full-year scholarship from the Tosin Eniolorunda STEM Foundation, demonstrating Moniepoint’s dedication to educational excellence.
Audi Innocent of St Patrick’s College won second place with ₦300,000, and Asher David of Glorious Kids Academy won third place with ₦200,000.
“At Moniepoint, we believe that driving sustainable innovation starts with future-proofing and expanding the talent pool by providing the next generation with the tools they need to succeed, particularly basic literacy skills,” said Tosin Eniolorunda, CEO of Moniepoint Inc.
“These young voices represent the future of African leadership, and their insights into financial inclusion and technology highlight the incredible potential that exists in our communities.
We are heavily investing in Africa’s future through initiatives such as the donated CAD/CAM lab to OAU and the Moniepoint DreamDevs programme.”
Aside from monetary prizes, Moniepoint’s support includes the creation of platforms for young people to express their ideas on a larger scale.
The company is creating an environment that fosters critical thinking skills, confidence, and engagement with important societal issues by participating in the NextGen Connect Conference and Tech-In-School conversations.
Florence Ogonegbu, the founder of Mega Impact Foundation, emphasised the organization’s commitment to empowering young Africans.
“We reaffirm our commitment to creating an Africa in which every young person has easy access to sustainable education, capacity building, and empowerment.”
We are building platforms that will help our youth thrive and transform their communities by leveraging technology and local initiatives. We are not only shaping futures with partners like Moniepoint, but also driving a global social development movement.”
The oratory competition was also supported by the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, emphasising the importance of collaboration in nurturing young talent.
The collaboration between Moniepoint and the Mega Impact Foundation demonstrates the important role that fintech companies can play in promoting youth development and shaping a better future for Africa.
