Peter Obi Calls On Christians To Pray For Compassionate Leaders This Easter

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for 2023, has urged Nigerian Christians to use this Easter season to pray for compassionate and empathetic leadership in the country.

Ibrahim Umar, spokesman for Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), made the call in a press statement released today.

Obi emphasised the importance of Easter as a celebration of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, as well as its relevance to the need for caring leadership.

“At Easter, Christians commemorate the enormous sacrifice Jesus Christ made for humanity,” the statement reads.

“Therefore, there is no better time to pray for tender-hearted and caring leaders for our country than Easter, when we saw in Jesus an extraordinary, compassionate leader.”

The former governor of Anambra State painted a stark picture of Nigeria’s current challenges, citing insecurity and a slew of other issues caused by what he described as “a visible abdication of responsibility by insensitive and indifferent leaders.”

He claimed that Nigeria’s abundant natural and human resources go untapped due to poor governance.

“Nigeria deserves better leadership than what they are receiving to turn God’s natural and human capital gifts to the benefit of the populace,” he stated.

Obi believes that with the right leadership, Nigeria can overcome its current challenges and reach its full potential.

He emphasised the importance of leaders putting the needs and well-being of Nigerians first, echoing a central theme of his political platform.

Obi concluded his Easter message by encouraging Nigerians, particularly members of the “Obedient” movement, to remain hopeful despite current challenges.
