Obi Donates To Healthcare, Education Institutions, Underscores Importance Of Human Development
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections and former Governor of Anambra State, has donated N12.5 million to two healthcare and education institutions, demonstrating his commitment to improving Nigeria’s Human Development Index.
Obi announced on his X handle on Monday, April 14th, that he had visited OLA College of Nursing Science in Jos, Plateau State, and praised the institution’s commitment to training future healthcare professionals.
“I had the privilege of visiting OLA College of Nursing Science in Jos—a remarkable institution deeply committed to shaping the future of healthcare in our country,” Obi wrote.
“There, I met passionate young Nigerians who are determined to become the lifesavers and healthcare professionals our country urgently requires.”
Obi donated N10 million to support the college’s development projects, emphasising the importance of investing in education and healthcare as key indicators of national progress.
Despite the fact that his planned trip to Benue State was cancelled, Obi took advantage of the opportunity to visit Paradise College of Health and Technology in Uke, Nasarawa State, on his return journey.
He praised the private institution for its dual mission of training health professionals and providing shelter for orphans.
“The college not only trains health professionals, but also serves as a shelter for orphans, demonstrating the power of purposeful private initiatives,” Obi said.
He spent time interacting with students and orphans, inspiring them to pursue their dreams through education.
He also emphasised the importance of education in terms of personal advancement and national poverty alleviation.
Obi donated N2.5 million to the school and orphans, demonstrating his commitment to supporting impactful initiatives, particularly those that are often overlooked. He promised to continue his support.
“We cannot build a prosperous nation without investing in its people,” Obi said. “The path to development is to improve healthcare, increase access to quality education, and lift as many Nigerians as possible out of poverty. “A new Nigeria is possible.” The post concluded with his signature, “-PO.”
These donations reflect Obi’s ongoing advocacy for human capital development as a key driver of Nigeria’s future prosperity.
His actions continue to highlight the critical role that healthcare and education play in fostering a more equitable and prosperous society.
