Rep Ginger Onwusibe Holds Interactive Meeting With Constituents In Abuja, Renders Account
*Acknowledges Request For Reduction In Land Size Acquired For Abia Airport
Rt Hon Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, the esteemed representative of Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, held a pre-Easter Interactive Meeting with his constituents in Abuja yesterday, Wednesday, April 16th, 2025.
The event, held at the Floris Garden in Wuse Zone 3, FCT, highlighted Onwusibe’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the progress of his constituency.
In the words of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, “The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dreams shall never die.” Integrity is the lifeblood of democracy.” Onwusibe gave a compelling overview of his accomplishments and future plans, cementing his reputation as a true “People’s Representative.”

The meeting, which was well-attended by constituents from all walks of life, featured open dialogue, constructive feedback, and a palpable sense of trust in their elected officials.
Onwusibe, who recently supplemented his legislative skills with a law degree, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for his constituents’ unwavering support.
He emphasised the importance of competent legislators representing the people, not just physical spaces, and went on to outline his achievements in the 2024 Annual Budget.
Onwusibe emphasised his accomplishments within a single budget cycle, outlining a comprehensive plan of action that addressed critical sectors in his constituency. His accomplishments include:
Healthcare Improvements: The establishment of two standard health centres, which are scheduled to open on June 13th, 2025, as well as the provision of medical interventions to indigent constituents.
Educational Empowerment: Providing annual bursaries to 400 deserving Indigenous students attending tertiary institutions. The establishment of ICT Learning Centres in Ntigha and Umunko to promote computer literacy and prepare citizens for the digital economy.
Infrastructure Development: The construction of a modern Mini-Stadium in Obuba, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, will promote talent identification and athletic development. Installing solar-powered lights at Amapu Ntigha will improve public safety and infrastructure.
Constituents listening with rapt attention
Road Network Improvement: Attracting the ongoing construction of the Orie-Ntigha-Amapu-Umuogele-Nsirimo Road will significantly improve connectivity in the constituency. Collaborated with the Executive Governor of Abia State on ongoing road infrastructure projects in the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituencies.
Equitable Development Distribution: Our goal is to establish one impactful project in each ward of the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency.
Employment Opportunities: Securing federal employment for some constituents while actively pursuing additional job creation opportunities.
Legislative Initiatives: Initiated and sponsored significant bills, including:
A. Establishment of Aba State (Second Reading).
B. Establishment of the Federal College of Entrepreneurship in Ntigha (Second Reading)
C. Converting Okpuala Ngwa General Hospital into a Federal Medical Centre (Second Reading)
Abia Airport Project Liaison: Collaborated with the Executive Governor of Abia State to upgrade the proposed Abia Airstrip to Nsulu Airport, a significant achievement for the state. The project’s goal is to improve connectivity, increase economic activity, and create opportunities for development in the region.
The meeting’s high point was Onwusibe’s commitment to addressing concerns about the Abia Airport project, specifically land acquisition in Umuezeukwu.
He acknowledged the request for a reduction in the land size acquired, particularly as it affects Umuezeukwu. He addressed concerns about alleged pressure on citizens to sign power of attorney over their lands, promising to bring the matter to the attention of the State Government.
Onwusibe assured constituents that talks were underway to ensure fair compensation, the construction of a greenhouse, job opportunities, and other benefits for airport host communities.
He promised to act as a liaison between the government and landowners to ensure fair and just outcomes.
Beyond highlighting his past accomplishments, Onwusibe outlined a series of ambitious plans for the future, reinforcing his commitment to his constituents.
Cultural Preservation: Sponsorship of the Iri-Ji festival for Isiala Ngwa North and South Constituents in Abuja in August 2025 to celebrate the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Transparency and Communication: Periodic publication of “Onwa Magazine” to highlight legislative progress and accomplishments, ensuring transparency and keeping constituents informed.
Expanded Empowerment Programs: In 2025, the diaspora community will be recognised and supported through the extension of empowerment schemes and scholarship endowments to constituents in Abuja, FCT.
Accessibility and Support: Providing recommendation letters to deserving constituents as needed.
Political Unity: Integrating and harmonising the Onwa Structure Abuja and the Ginger-Darloo Group into a single, cohesive movement.
Large-Scale Empowerment: The goal is to empower 1,000 constituents from the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituencies by 2025.
Continued Engagement: Announcing another Interactive Meeting in August 2025 to encourage ongoing dialogue and collaboration.
The interactive meeting exemplified effective civic engagement by allowing constituents to directly hold their elected leader accountable for his actions and decisions.
This critical component of democracy fosters trust and ensures that leadership is responsive to the needs of the people.
