Group Urges Nigerian Youth To Embrace Tinubu’s Initiatives, Specifically NiYA, To Unlock Potential
The Social Advancement Forum (SAF) has urged Nigerian youth to take advantage of the opportunities provided by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly the recently launched Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), to boost their potential and compete on a global scale.
In a statement issued following the NiYA launch in Abuja, SAF emphasised the government’s commitment to providing world-class training in critical areas such as digital literacy, technical skills, entrepreneurship, and creative industries.
According to a statement signed by SAF Chairman Tahir Ibrahim Tahir and Secretary Shehu Atta, NiYA is an important step towards closing the education and human capital empowerment gap.
The statement praised the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) for its focus on equipping young Nigerians with relevant skills, which will help them avoid unemployment.
SAF applauded President Tinubu’s vision of equipping young Nigerians with the skills required to succeed in the global market.
The group also praised the establishment of the National Youth Development Bank, which aims to improve access to capital for young entrepreneurs with digital literacy skills.
“For us, the launch of NiYA and the establishment of a National Youth Development Bank… will undoubtedly go a long way towards enabling them to establish successful businesses, thereby effectively addressing both the skills gap and youth unemployment,” the statement continued.
SAF believes that if implemented effectively, these policy measures will significantly contribute to Nigeria’s socioeconomic growth and the ambitious goal of achieving a one trillion-dollar economy by 2030.
The group emphasised the opportunity for Nigerian youth to enter the global skilled service outsourcing industry, which is currently valued at $854 billion.
“Against this backdrop, we are urging the country’s teeming population to seize this opportunity to showcase what they have to offer,” SAF stated.
Finally, SAF tasked NiYA’s management with carrying out President Tinubu’s directive to train and empower millions of young Nigerians over the next two years.
The group emphasised the need for effective implementation to ensure the initiative’s success and impact on the lives of young Nigerians.
