Bauchi Governor Vows Collaboration With Peter Obi For Good Governance
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has pledged to work with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to improve Nigeria’s governance.
The announcement came Thursday after the two met behind closed doors for three hours at the state’s Presidential Lodge.
The consultation-style meeting centred on addressing poverty and crime across the country.
Governor Mohammed emphasised the collaboration’s nonpartisan nature, saying it would cross political, religious, and tribal lines.
He stated unequivocally his willingness to work with Obi, dismissing any doubts or misinterpretations about their meeting.
“I am ready to work with Peter Obi,” he stated. He also stated that the PDP governors supported this initiative, seeing it as a critical step towards national recovery.
Their collaborative efforts, he stated, aim to provide “good governance…with knowledge, timelines, and visions” to save Nigeria.
Mr. Obi, who initiated the visit, stated that his goal was to consult with Governor Mohammed, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics.
Obi emphasised the importance of addressing Northern challenges, citing the region’s critical role in national progress.
He emphasised the inextricable link between poverty and crime, calling for significant investment in key sectors to alleviate poverty and, as a result, lower crime rates.
The meeting, attended by selected officials, highlights a potential shift in the political landscape, with key figures from opposing parties working together to address pressing national issues.
The collaboration’s success will be dependent on its ability to translate stated intentions into concrete policy changes and actions.
