Lever hailed the opening as a “momentous occasion,” highlighting the UK and Nigeria’s growing economic partnership.

She cited Nigeria’s large, dynamic population and expanding middle class as reasons for the UK Department for Business and Trade to classify it as a high-growth market.

“This launch is more than just the opening of a store; it is a statement of intent,” Lever explained. She praised The Body Shop for its ethical business practices, commitment to sustainability, and women’s empowerment, all of which she said resonated strongly with Nigerian consumers.

Lever emphasised the two countries’ strong trade relationship, pointing out that total trade in goods and services between the UK and Nigeria will reach £7.8 billion in 2023, up significantly from the previous year.
