NDDC Celebrates 25 Years: Sand Filling Project Highlights Achievements In Akugbene
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) celebrates its 25th anniversary by highlighting its extensive contributions to the region.
In a statement issued today, the commission emphasised its ongoing commitment to improving Niger Delta residents’ lives through a range of projects spanning infrastructure, healthcare, and environmental remediation.
Over the last quarter-century, the NDDC has carried out a wide range of initiatives, from road construction and medical equipment provision to the installation of lighting and potable water systems in numerous communities.
A significant example of this commitment, according to the commission, is the recent completion of a sand filling and land reclamation project in Akugbene town, Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State.
This ambitious undertaking aimed to address the community’s ongoing environmental challenges.
“The project included extensive sand filling and land stabilisation to mitigate flooding, erosion, and other environmental hazards,” the NDDC stated.
The commission emphasised the project’s role in making Akugbene’s environment more livable and sustainable.
The NDDC’s goal in addressing these environmental issues is to significantly improve the community’s quality of life and overall well-being.
This project in Akugbene is a case study of the NDDC’s larger efforts to uplift the Niger Delta region over the last 25 years, demonstrating its commitment to a better future for its people.
The commission is expected to release additional details about the anniversary celebrations and other key achievements in the coming days.
