South-South Leaders Dismiss Rift Rumours Between Senate President, Akpabio, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan
In a resounding show of support, South-South leaders have vehemently denied the existence of any schism between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, dismissing recent rumours as the work of “political mercenaries.”
Following a meeting in Calabar on Sunday, the leaders issued a strong statement refuting claims of discord and praising the two senators’ cordial relationship.
Chief John Harry, National Chairman of the South-South Front, issued an unequivocal statement condemning the spread of misinformation, calling recent smear campaigns “wicked and malicious.”
They claim that these campaigns are intended to harm Senator Akpabio’s and Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s reputations by portraying them as enemies.
Specific allegations of sexual harassment and marginalisation were categorically rejected as fabrications.
The leaders praised Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s intelligence, self-control, and strong voice in the Senate, emphasising her dedication and bravery in the face of unjustified attacks.
They emphasised that no amount of intimidation or blackmail from anonymous groups would deter her from fulfilling her legislative duties.
The South-South leaders also praised Senate President Akpabio’s inclusive leadership style and the peaceful environment he has created within the Senate.
They recognised his efforts to promote progress and collaboration in the chamber.
The statement emphasised both senators’ significant contributions to national development, stating that no amount of criticism could diminish their positive impact.
Chief Harry expressed concern about the irresponsible attempts to divide Senator Akpabio and Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing their actions as an assault on the region’s collective sensibilities.
He called for an end to the malicious rumours and urged Nigerians to back both senators’ commitment to national progress.
The meeting ended with a strong call to solidarity with Senator Akpabio and Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, emphasising the importance of unity and collaboration among all Nigerians, regardless of region or political affiliation.
The South-South leaders presented a united front, strongly rejecting the manufactured controversy and reaffirming their unwavering support for both distinguished senators.
They urged the public to disregard false rumours and instead focus on the positive contributions of these two influential figures in Nigerian politics.
