Islamic Development Bank Impressed By Yobe State’s Agricultural Project Readiness
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has expressed satisfaction with Yobe State’s willingness to collaborate on a major agricultural project.
Following an assessment tour of the state, Mr. Javed Khan, the bank’s Senior Agriculture Specialist, praised the government’s dedication and expressed confidence in the project’s success.
Khan, who led a team to Yobe State despite initial security concerns, said the team was “impressed with the peace and security” and the government’s commitment to the initiative.
He emphasised the positive working relationship between the bank’s team and the state government, predicting project approval within the next three months.
“We were initially discouraged from visiting Yobe State due to security concerns, but we insisted and were pleasantly surprised,” Khan explained.
“The Yobe state government’s commitment to meeting its obligations is both impressive and encouraging.”
Governor Mai Mala Buni welcomed the bank’s assessment and praised the IsDB for dismissing negative narratives about the state’s security situation.
He emphasised the state’s accessibility and the people’s determination to rebuild their lives through agriculture following years of insecurity.
“I am glad you did not listen to them,” Buni said, referring to those who spread false information. “You are now here and have seen things for yourself.
” We are prepared for this partnership, which will use agriculture to drive our state’s economy and improve the lives of our citizens.”
The Governor emphasised the importance of agriculture in Yobe State’s post-insurgency recovery program, emphasising its ability to ensure food security and economic prosperity.
He reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to working with the IsDB to ensure the agricultural development project’s success.
The project is expected to benefit all 17 local governments across the state.
