Dubai University Honours Amuchie, Nigerian Journalist, Humanitarian With Honorary Doctorate

Dubai, UAE – Dr Max Amuchie, Founder/CEO of Sundiata Post Media Ltd, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Gulf American University (GAU) in Dubai, in recognition of his significant contributions to knowledge, humanitarian service, and community development.

The award was announced on December 25th, 2024, following a year-long evaluation process. Dr. Amuchie successfully presented his work to a GAU Honorary Award Interview Panel on December 23rd, highlighting his dedication to humanitarian causes.

Dr. Amuchie’s presentation focused on his impactful work as President of the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD for the Rotary year 2022-2023.

He led a project to eliminate open defecation at the Central Primary School in Gidan Gimba, Nasarawa State, which included the construction of three modern toilet facilities for students and staff. This project, which was launched on June 23rd, 2023, was met with overwhelming gratitude from the community.

Dr. Amuchie also initiated a Basic Education Project at the same school, which included the construction of a new classroom block and a headteacher’s office, which was nearing completion by the end of his tenure.

Aside from his humanitarian efforts, Dr. Amuchie’s accomplishments in the media industry were also highlighted. Sundiata Post, his media platform that debuted in Abuja on July 7, 2015, won the prestigious Google News JERF Award in July 2020.

Dr. Amuchie is a Chartered Human Resource Consultant, a Doctoral Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and a member of a number of professional organisations, including the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria, the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

In a letter of thanks to GAU, Dr. Amuchie expressed his hope that this honorary doctorate would encourage collaboration between the university, Sundiata Post Media Ltd, and the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD.

The award recognises Dr. Amuchie’s numerous contributions and cements his position as a leader in both journalism and humanitarian work.
