Political Analyst Backs Amaechi, Says Nigerians Architect Of Own Misery, Calls For Urgent Repentance
A political analyst based in the diaspora, Mr. Vitalismary Unachukwu, has thrown his weight behind the former Minister of Aviation, Rotimi Amaechi’s controversial assertion that Nigerians are the root cause of their own suffering.
Unachukwu strongly echoed Amaechi’s statement, arguing that the nation’s persistent hardships, enslavement, and political turmoil stem from the apathy and complicity of its citizens.
Unachukwu’s statement, released today, criticised Nigerians for their tendency to praise political leaders even in the face of obvious failures and corruption.
He contends that this docility allows corrupt politicians to thrive and perpetuate the cycle of poverty and oppression.
“This is a nation where citizens delight in eulogising their leaders, even knowing they are not doing well,” Unachukwu said. “Failure to actively engage with their government and challenge its injustices leaves them vulnerable to exploitation.”
He pointed to the 2023 Presidential elections as a prime example, claiming that widespread electoral irregularities were tolerated by a largely passive populace.
He contrasted this with the actions of citizens in other countries who actively fight for democratic freedoms.
Unachukwu challenged Nigerians to examine their own roles in the nation’s plight, questioning their faith and moral standing before God.
He argued that divine intervention is contingent upon human action and a genuine commitment to change.
Drawing a parallel to the biblical miracle of the loaves and fishes, he highlighted the need for faith and a proactive approach to address the nation’s challenges.
“Nothing positive will happen in Nigeria unless Nigerians repent and turn from their evil, wicked ways,” Unachukwu insisted, citing 2 Chronicles 7:14.
He urged citizens to rise from their slumber, take responsibility, and actively demand accountability from their leaders.
While supporting Amaechi’s assessment, Unachukwu also called upon the former minister to demonstrate leadership and actively work alongside the people to address their concerns.
He concluded by posing the poignant questions many Nigerians are asking: When will the nation reach its promised land, and who will lead them there?
The analyst’s statement underscores a growing sentiment among some Nigerians abroad, who believe the country’s future hinges on a profound shift in citizen engagement and a collective commitment to moral reform.
