What Abia Lawmaker Discussed With Nnamdi Kanu In A Meeting With Detained IPOB Leader
ABUJA, NIGERIA– Hon. Obi Aguocha, representing the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State, has successfully resolved the access restriction imposed on Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team following a meeting with the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Aguocha, who visited Kanu on Thursday, confirmed that the IPOB leader was “keeping well and looks strong.”
His media team further stated that Aguocha “appreciates the commendable efforts of the new leadership of the DSS in ensuring that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s healthcare needs are met,” including granting him access to private medical care and a doctor of his choice.
The lawmaker’s visit and subsequent resolution come after reports of Kanu being secluded from his legal team raised concerns about his well-being.
Aguocha, after writing to the House leadership and the DSS, was granted access to Kanu, ultimately leading to a resolution allowing his lawyers to visit him.
“A resolution was reached regarding the lack of access to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by his legal team, who hereby are granted the requisite access to their client,” stated Aguocha’s media team.
Aguocha remains optimistic that a political solution will be reached, leading to Kanu’s release and promoting peace and stability in the Southeast region.
