Nigeria At 64: Enugu Governor Calls For Unity, Inclusive Economic Development
Enugu, Nigeria – Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah has issued a call for national unity and an inclusive approach to economic development as Nigeria marks its 64th anniversary of independence.
Governor Mbah stressed the importance of instilling a sense of belonging in all Nigerians during a special church service at the Government House Chapel on Sunday.
“The message for us as a country is to be united and to pursue inclusive economic development,” Governor Mbah stated. “I believe that is where this country’s economy is headed.”
The governor acknowledged the country’s steady progress, but emphasised the need for a paradigm shift to accelerate development and overcome current obstacles.
He advocated for disruptive innovation to overcome barriers and achieve greater national progress.
Governor Mbah also urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors in achieving the country’s economic goals.
The Diocesean Secretary/Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Very Rev. Fr. Wilfred Agubuchie, praised Governor Mbah’s leadership in Enugu as an example of Nigeria’s potential for good governance.
He cited the governor’s innovative approach, such as tax reforms aimed at equitable service delivery, as proof of his dedication to the common good.
Father Agubuchie highlighted several key accomplishments during Governor Mbah’s tenure, including the completion of the long-abandoned International Conference Centre, the renovation of the Presidential Hotel, extensive road construction, clean water provision, and investment in security and infrastructure.
As Nigeria enters its 65th year, Governor Mbah’s call for unity and inclusive economic development echoes many Nigerians’ aspirations.
His leadership in Enugu is a source of hope, demonstrating that positive change is possible with visionary, selfless, and dedicated leadership.
