Edo 2024: Urhonigbe Leaders Assure Ighodalo, PDP Their Votes
The people of Urhonigbe, in Orhionmwon Local Government Council, have promised to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo, in Edo State’s governorship election on September 21.
The communities of Urhonigbe Ward 7 and Ward 8, Urhonigbe North and South, respectively, based their decision on Governor Godwin Obaseki’s good work and the quality of the party’s candidate in terms of competence, capacity, and character.
They made the claim on Monday when the PDP’s Ward by Ward Campaign Train for Asue/Ogie arrived in Urhonigbe.
Mr Peter Enoghiahu from Urhonigbe North, speaking at the campaign ground held at the Urhonigbe Main Market Square, said, “Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is a true man of Urhonigbe, established two giant industries here.
The Rubber Estate and the Ethanol Plant. The combined workforce of the two companies is approximately 15,000 people. Aside from that, the party’s candidate, “Asue Ighodalo, na man wey don waka for the entire world to see and know how people develop.”
Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, Director-General of the Campaign Council, praised the crowd for turning out en masse to welcome the campaign train. He stated that Urhonigbe is a done deal and thanked them for choosing light over darkness.
Over 50 defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) later joined the PDP. The defectors were led by hardline APC leaders Edobor Ernest and Osa Wole. They pledged to work for the party’s victory in the region.
Addressing the crowd, Igholado stated that more industries would be established in the area. He did, however, advise them not to fall for anyone’s deception. He promised that he and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, Esq., would form a different government. He assured them, “We will not fail you. “We will make Una proud.”
As of the time of writing this report, the campaign train was on its way to the Ugu/Evbosi wards campaign.
The event will take place at Uhruewe Primary School in Orhionmwon.
