ECOWAS Court Holds Orientation Programme For New Saff Members
The ECOWAS Court of Justice has begun a two-day orientation programme for newly hired staff members at the Court’s Abuja headquarters.
Dr Yaouza Ouro-Sama, Chief Registrar of the Court, charged the newly hired staff members to quickly become acquainted with the structure, processes, and operations of the Court’s various departments. He urged the new employees to take advantage of the programme and apply the knowledge gained during the orientation to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
Ouro-Sama advised the participants to adhere to the organization’s hierarchy, rules and procedures, and ethics, as well as to promote integrity, transparency, objectivity, and teamwork across divisions and departments.
In a welcome address, Dr William Towah, Director of Administration and Finance, who was represented by the Human Resource Officer, Mrs Mariame Kone, urged the new employees to uphold ethics and carry out their duties diligently.
The Court organises a periodic orientation programme for new employees as part of its integration process into the organization’s processes and procedures.
Presentations will cover a variety of topics, including the Court’s history, vision, mandate, strategic goals, structure, legal texts, and judicial statistics. The new employees will also learn about the functions of the Court’s departments and units, such as the Research and Documentation Department, the Department of Administration and Finance, and the Protocol, ICT, and Communication units. Representatives from the ECOWAS Pension Office and the ECOWAS Staff Mutual Credit Union will also take turns informing new employees about savings and retirement plans.
