Increased Dedication, Loyalty, Commitment Can Justify Promotion, Odumosu Informs Recently Promoted Officers
Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that the only way for a newly promoted officer to justify their promotion is by demonstrating greater commitment and loyalty to duty.
She insisted that a decline in productivity would be a betrayal of the trust of the promoting body.
To justify their promotion, Odumosu therefore demanded of recently decorated officers and men of the Abuja Command of the Corps during a decoration ceremony on Friday that they demonstrate greater loyalty and a commitment to service.
The Ministry of Interior recently conducted a promotion exercise that resulted in the promotion of 21,000 officers and men from the NSCDC, including about 1,000 members of the Command.
Odumosu reminded the officers that there is a responsibility that comes with every promotion. He also stated that to be considered for a promotion, officers must serve their country with extraordinary loyalty and make sure they do not let Dr. Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General, down. Audi is working hard to clear the backlog of promotions in the agency.
Your promotion is a result of your hard work, but you should be aware that to be worthy of this recognition, you must perform better in terms of service and loyalty.
“We can only express our gratitude to the government by returning to our fatherland’s service—our father, the Commandant General, is working tirelessly to make sure that those who deserve to be promoted get promoted.”
The Corps has received support from the Kwali Area Council Chairman, Danladi Chiya, and the royal fathers in the Federal Capital Territory, who the commandant said have been strong allies of the NSCDC in carrying out its mandate in the area, among other sources.
Commandant Peter Obiora spoke on behalf of Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Audi of the NSCDC, who stated that the organisation worked extremely hard to guarantee that 21,000 out of the 28,0000 officers who took the promotion exam were promoted, setting a record in the process.
“We discovered that there is a significant backlog in promotions when we first came on board, so we started focusing on staff welfare and promotion as some of our top priorities,” he stated. For the Corps, this promotion is exceptional.”
