Haaland’s Dedication Key To City’s Success, Says Guardiola
Manchester (THE NEWSHAUS) – Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has lauded Erling Haaland’s unwavering commitment to fitness, crediting it as a crucial factor in the striker’s consistent availability this season.
Speaking at a press conference, Guardiola highlighted Haaland’s dedication as a stark contrast to the injury woes affecting other key players within the squad.
Haaland has featured in every Premier League and Champions League game this campaign, only missing the Carabao Cup ties against Watford and Tottenham where he was strategically rested.
This consistent presence is particularly impressive given the club’s injury struggles this term.
“Erling, even three or four years ago at Dortmund, had injury problems,” Guardiola acknowledged.
“But since arriving here, except for one short period, he’s been incredibly consistent. His fitness is remarkable.”
Guardiola contrasted this season’s form with previous years: “The Treble-winning year was amazing. Last season he scored goals, but he struggled a bit.
” This year, I have a feeling he’s incredibly focused. When you have that focus and your target is to be fit, you usually are.”
The manager attributed Haaland’s fitness to a combination of factors, including the club’s physiotherapy team and the striker’s dedication.
“Our physio takes care of him well,” Guardiola explained. “He spends a lot of time at the CFA [City Football Academy], and that’s why he’s ready.
” We should probably use him even more than we do, but he handles it exceptionally well.”
Haaland’s unwavering fitness has been a significant asset for City, providing consistent goalscoring threats amidst a demanding schedule.
Guardiola’s comments underscore the importance of the striker’s dedication to his physical condition, a key ingredient in Manchester City’s ongoing success.
