Group Felicitates Olorogun David Edevbie On 60th Birthday

David Edevbie and I were strangers until we met that fateful day in
1999. From that one meeting, we developed a relationship that has
reverberated in Delta State and Nigeria. We transited from Boss-Subordinate to colleagues, to friends, and ultimately became brothers.

Olorogun David Edevbie remains an inspiration, a mentor, a friend, and my brother. We have traversed many roads together and swam against raging
storms in shark-infested waters. And, always with our heads held high above
the water. Through the highs and lows of politics, our abiding commitment to
a vision of a common good for the many in place of self-aggrandizement has
remained a touchstone in a sterling public service career.
On this day 10 years ago, I wrote these words to him: “As I reflect on my life
over the past 14 years, it is clear to me that I will not be who I am today
without David Edevbie in my life. Similarly, every life that I have touched
positively during the period owes a debt of gratitude to you. That also means
that everyone I can impact in the years to come through life in public
service will be grateful to you even as they use such opportunities to give
glory to Almighty God.” That was the day he turned golden.
As he hits the Diamond age today, I can say without equivocation that my
words of 10 years ago continue to resonate even at higher decibels.
On this day, therefore, it is my pleasure to propose a toast to this man of the
people whose clarity of vision for the Modernization of our beloved Delta
The state is unmatched. Olorogun David Edevbie has been tested through the fire
and like pure gold, he glitters. Today, he turns Diamond making him even
more rugged and resilient for whatever tomorrow throws at him.
I join millions of his followers, associates, and friends to celebrate him today
and wish him the very best in the coming years.
