Coalition Condemns Increase In Alpha Beta’s Monthly Payment

A Coalition of Civil Societies has condemned the alleged increase in monthly payment to Alpha Beta, by the Lagos State government.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the spokesman for the coalition, Philip Adams said, “the increment of monthly payment from N800 million to N2.5billion for Alpha Beta is not only condemnable, but a demonstration of executive rascality by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The coalition alleged that this is a confirmation that the common resources of Lagosians are being deployed to fund the 2023 presidential ambition of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The coalition described as “unfortunate a situation where the ambition of Tinubu, who claims to be enroute to sustain the anti-corruption agenda of the Buhari administration would be borne by such fraudulent, ill-gotten fund and slush favors.

The Coalition reiterated its role as watchdog and maintained that 2023 will not be business as usual in Nigeria.

They called on Governor Sanwo-Olu and Senator Tinubu to immediately retrack this action or risk a nation-wide response by the Nigerian Civil Society ahead of 2023, which may permanently strip both men of any political goodwill or fortune .

“Incorporated in 2002 to handle computation, tracking and reconciliation of internally-generated revenue in Lagos State, Alpha Beta, is known to be owned by Senator Tinubu, who still maintains an awful influence over a state he last ran nearly twenty years ago.

“Recall that in 2020, Governor Sanwo-Olu had increased Alpha Beta’s share of the state’s revenue from N800million to N2.5 billion in a move widely alleged to bolster Senator Tinubu’s edge in the 2023 presidential race,” the group explained.
