Nigerian Navy Provides Free Medical and Educational Services to Diebu Community.

Diebu, Bayelsa State – The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH has extended a helping hand to the community of Diebu in Southern Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, providing free medical and educational services on Friday.
The initiative, spearheaded by NNS SOROH Commander, Commodore Nanmar Lakan, aims to foster stronger ties between the Navy and the host community.
The event saw the distribution of educational materials and free medical services to the people of Diebu.
Commodore Lakan highlighted the significance of the outreach, emphasizing its alignment with the Navy’s commitment to social responsibility and its vision to promote civil-military relations. He stated,
“This Initiative is part of NNS SOROH’s non-kinetic operations aimed at enhancing Civil Military Relations by providing valuable medical and educational assistance to the host community.”
He emphasized that the choice of Diebu for this program stemmed from its “proud history of producing leaders who have served our great nation in various capacities.”
The Commander stressed the Navy’s broader mandate, encompassing not only safeguarding national waters and assets but also prioritizing the well-being and development of coastal communities.
He asserted that the Navy remains a key stakeholder in nation-building and initiatives like this are crucial for strengthening the bond between the Navy and the people.
The educational aspect of the outreach included interactive sessions designed to encourage and support students, providing them with essential materials and inspiring them to strive for excellence.
Regarding the medical services, Commodore Lakan acknowledged the challenges faced by rural communities in accessing quality healthcare.
This outreach brought healthcare professionals directly to Diebu, focusing on preventive care, treatment of common ailments, and health education.
Commodore Lakan concluded by commending the leadership of Diebu community for their hospitality and cooperation, reiterating the strong ties between the Navy and the people of Southern Ijaw.
He urged the community to fully utilize the services provided and expressed the hope that the outreach would leave a lasting positive impact on the people of Diebu.
