Prof Okore has a strong interest in nature and environmental sustainability. Her works confirm this.

According to Wikipedia, Okore’s work frequently employs flotsam or discarded objects to create intricate sculptures and installations using repetitive and labour-intensive methods. She learnt some of her intricate techniques, such as weaving, sewing, rolling, twisting, and dyeing, by observing local Nigerians performing daily domestic tasks. Okore’s more recent works incorporate plant-based materials (particularly food scraps and waste) to create large bioplastic art forms and installations. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums both inside and outside of the United States.
She has received numerous international accolades, including the Fulbright Scholar Award in 2012 and the Australian Creative Victoria Award in 2021.
