NDDC’s Ogbuku Pledges Continued Support For Tech Advancement In Niger Delta
Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), is increasing his efforts to promote technological advancement and digital transformation in the Niger Delta region.
He made the announcement while speaking to attendees at the Port Harcourt Tech Expo 2025, an event for innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders interested in Nigeria’s technological future.
Dr. Ogbuku emphasised the Tech Expo as an important forum for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation aimed at leveraging technology to drive sustainable development in the Niger Delta and beyond.
He emphasised that the NDDC’s sponsorship of the event demonstrated its commitment to promoting technological growth in the region.
“Technology is critical to the future of the Niger Delta,” said Dr. Ogbuku. “As technology advances, it is prudent to adapt to changes and plans for the future.” We are prepared to work with relevant organisations to provide a training platform for our youth.”
The NDDC CEO also urged technology leaders to create platforms that empower young people and cultivate tech-related skills.
He also encouraged young people to use social media responsibly as a tool for personal development and financial empowerment.
“The world of tomorrow will be shaped by the designs and technologies emerging today,” he stated. “It is up to us as individuals and organisations to decide what happens next.”
Mr. Alex Onyia, the keynote speaker, echoed Dr. Ogbuku’s sentiments by sharing insights into emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital entrepreneurship.
He emphasised the importance of innovation in shaping Nigeria’s economic future and encouraged the region’s youth to prioritise intellectual investments in order to become independent and self-sufficient individuals.
“We need to shift our focus from oil to technology,” Mr. Onyia said. “Technology is the future, and it is required in all sectors.”
The Port Harcourt Tech Expo 2025 offered a variety of interactive sessions, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities to foster collaboration on tech-driven solutions to regional challenges.
The event reinforced the message that technology is the new frontier for Niger Delta youth and the key to unlocking their future potential.
