The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fully supported the National Working Committee’s (NWC) decision to replace Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary with Arch. Setonji Koshoedo.

The Imo State Interim Chairman of the PDP, Chris Odoemenan, announced the endorsement while also reaffirming the party’s loyalty to the newly appointed National Secretary and Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the Ideato Representative in the House of Representatives, who is recognised as the Imo PDP state leader.

Following an emergency meeting in Owerri on Tuesday evening, Odoemenan announced that the Imo PDP Interim Committee, as well as the 27 local government Caretaker Committees, had unanimously approved the NWC’s selection of Koshoedo.

“The Imo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Interim Committee, led by Chris Odoemenan, and the 27 local government Caretaker Committees today passed a vote of confidence in the PDP NWC over the unanimous appointment of Arch. Setonji Koshoedo as the party’s substantive National Secretary,” Odoemenan stated.

He also expressed the party’s unwavering support for Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, praising his leadership and dedication.

“The PDP Interim EXCO pledged their support to the State Leader and only surviving PDP public elected officer, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere (Ideato Rep), for his commitment,” Odoemenan added.

Furthermore, the Imo PDP Interim EXCO has urged the NWC to approve the State Interim Executive, who was nominated by Imo PDP leaders, at the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

Odoemenan expressed hope that with Anyanwu’s departure, the internal conflicts within the Imo PDP chapter will be resolved, paving the way for the party’s resurgence in the upcoming elections.

“With Samuel Anyanwu now in his rightful place, it is our firm belief and resolve that internal squabbles in our state chapter of the party have been fully resolved, and the PDP will rebound for the upcoming Imo electoral contests,” he concluded.

This endorsement signals a potential shift in the Imo PDP’s political landscape, as the party leadership appears to be united behind the new National Secretary, Hon. Ugochinyere.
