The Bayelsa State Primary Health Care Board, in collaboration with the Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation (ENWAF), has begun the third phase of the Big Catch Up immunisation program.

The initiative’s goal is to immunise children aged 0 to 5 years old against deadly vaccine-preventable diseases.

To raise awareness, officials from the Bayelsa State Primary Health Care Board and ENWAF went out into the streets and markets yesterday, informing residents about the importance of routine immunisation and encouraging parents to bring their children in for vaccination.

The Big Catch Up exercise aims to close the immunisation gap and protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases.

The board members took turns encouraging parents and carers to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their children’s health.

According to the reps, the exercise is scheduled to last from the 11th to the 16th, and vaccination centres have been designated throughout the state.

“Vaccination is a critical step in keeping our children safe from deadly diseases. Let us work together to ensure that every child in Bayelsa State is immunised and healthy.

“Moreover, the vaccine is free, so take advantage of it and ensure your child catches up with her peers.”
